Tz’s Daily Dose of Decade: David Bowie

When I was growing up in Las Vegas there was no MTV. Sad, i know, but don’t fret for me because i had something even better, an uncle with a fantastic record collection and a late night weekend TV show called Night Flight. Between those two things i was well educated on what was new and hip (at the time anyway) and my ear was planted firmly on the ground while my eyes looked to the skies for strange and fantastic new things. David Bowie appeared to me one strange night dressed as a Pierrot clown, walking tentatively on a Martian beach. I was frightened but i just could not look away and i’ve been staring ever since! A few years back i was scouring the VHS bins of a local Record Show and i stumbled upon this fantastic footage from 1978.

Can you imagine the world without David Bowie? Well, we’re in it right now and i don’t like it one bit! He seems to have retired for good, though i’ve heard some rumors about him showing up at next year’s Coachella Festival. I have been lucky enough to see him a few times. His last tour was for the fantastic album Reality in 2003 and i was lucky enough to catch him in Seattle! Here’s some footage from that tour and one of my all-time favorite Bowie tracks, Battle For Britain (The Letter)…
