One of my favorite movies of all-time is an indie from New Zealand called Eagle vs. Shark. In fact, probably the only reason i’d even heard of it is because it stars Jermaine Clement from Flight Of The Conchords. However, it’s Loren Horsley that really makes this film special. Add to that a truly fantastic soundtrack and it becomes a sleepy classic. Most of the soundtrack is done by New Zealand band The Phoenix Foundation. This is good and bad. Good because they’re a great band that i’d not heard before, and bad because i cannot find any CD’s of theirs as they seem to be slightly obscure. However, i did find a video for ‘Going Fishing’ from the Eagle vs. Shark soundtrack. Enjoy!

I couldnt agree more!… however, the good news is that I just noticed The Phoenix Foundations latest album (Happy Ending) was just released on itunes in Europe… incase thats where you are…its VERY good!
Their first album, Horse Power, was released in the US, and if you go online to sites like amplifier.co.nz, you can find all three of their albums. http://www.amplifier.co.nz/artist/2170/the-phoenix-foundation.html
Smokecds.com is another good site for finding NZ CDs. Quite a few of the songs used on the soundtrack come from Horse Power. All three albums are excellent. They’re worth the extra effort.
