Back in 1982, English singer/songwriter Adam Ant disbanded his band Adam and the Ants and released his first solo album. He scored his biggest hit in the US with today’s Song Of The Day, “Goody Two Shoes.” It hit #12 in the States but it was a #1 smash in his home country.
A few fun facts about Adam Ant:
1. Adam’s first ever band was called Bazooka Joe. Adam played bass. In November of 1975, the very first Sex Pistols gig was as the opener for Bazooka Joe.
2. In 1977, Adam formed Adam and the Ants and asked Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren to manage the band. Malcolm then stole all of the other “Ants” and hired singer Annabella Lwin to front the new band, Bow Wow Wow.
3. Today is Adam’s 55th birthday.
