Tz’s Daily Dose: The Left Banke

During the mid 90’s i spent my time drinking beer and listening to records at a friend’s house. This is one of the many fruits of that particular labor and it still seems to be quite the hidden gem. It’s from the New York band The Left Banke, who pioneered the Baroque’n’Roll sound in the 60’s. Pretty, Psychedelic & Tuneful, here’s ‘Walk Away Renee” on The Dose.

Here’s a clip from a related band. The Left Banke at times used session musicians, and one is particularly noteworthy. Before Michael McKean was an Actor & Comedian, he was a session musician, but if you recognize the name, then you already knew that! Here’s David St. Hubbins and his band Spinal Tap, with ‘Gimme Some Money’.
