Today is Natalie Merchant’s 46th birthday. I listened to a lot of Natalie’s music in my junior high and high school years. In junior high she was with the 10,000 Maniacs and in high school she had gone solo. While I like the 10,000 Maniacs a lot, I LOVE Natalie’s solo work, particularly today’s Song Of The Day, ‘Carnival’. ‘Carnival’ was Natalie’s first single from Natalie’s debut solo album Tigerlily. The album was a huge success, selling over 5 million copies. This video is from a live performance, which seems to be where she is at her best. Enjoy!
